Hello.

I'm very new to GameStart, only downloaded it about an hour ago.

So far ive been very impressed by the tutorial videos, the editor looks great, lighting is very nice and and the potential to create large terrains with 50cm precision is really attractive. The website is very nice too, with minimum fuss and easy to navigate.

I am currently looking for an engine for my project and i have been unable to find something that i am totally happy with. I have used Cryengine 2/3, Unigine, Unity and Leadwerks. There are some characteristics of this engine that had me wondering if it was in fact based on Leadwerks, but i see no mention of it anywhere.

I was very impressed with stress test video and i was hoping to create a scene like this myself.

I'm currently trying to import my heightmap so i can test the engines performance. The heightmap is 4096x4096 and i have tried importing it using several different formats without success.

My process is as follows: Open sample project, create new scene, add terrain with 4096 dimensions and texture set to High, select terrain in the identifier window and in the properties tab select 'terrain menu' > heightmap > import from file. Some computing takes place but then nothing of interest happens. I've tried scaling the heightmap but this had no effect either.

It would be great if someone could walk me through the process or provide a link for a heightmap tutorial.

Thank you.

Hi,
The process you use seems to be the correct one, I am going to try to reproduce the issue.
Thanks!

Any luck with reproducing the problem? I haven't given it another shot since, but ill start again tomorrow with different size heightmaps and try every format.

I'm really keen to test this engine with such a large terrain!

Sorry for the delay. Yes, I confirm this issue, it was added to the bug reporting system and will be fixed for the next release.

Great news!

Really looking forward to this new release, despite my lack of experience with the engine.
